Chianti is a late, short day, round, Grano red onion that is very sweet with excellent interior color. Moderate Pink Root tolerance.

Onions that require 10-12 hrs of daylight. Short day onions are recommended for southern states.

I've grown this onion for two years now in the high desert of New Mexico. I start the seeds on Jan. 1 and transplant in March. With enough nitrogen fertilizer and water, they make large onions that for the most part will keep until Thanksgiving, when we usually run out of them. They taste great too!
Slow to bolt, no disease, good size, perfect for overwintering in Florida, zone 10a
